Simply Stu Make Every Goat Count

Bradgate

Saturday 24th March

Up at the crack of sparrows this morning for a wander and photoshoot with UKCodeMonkey. Not great weather for it - if the sun had just burned through the mist a little, there could have been some really atmospheric shots, but as it was it remained rather dull and grey. Still - we were there early enough to see lots of dears.

I was playing with the wide-angle lens - I love taking the ‘wrong’ lens out with me sometimes… I was telling UKCM how I’d once spent a day in beautiful wide-angle landscape country and purposefully taken a fixed 135mm lens to see what would happen. Today it was the opposite… no chance of capturing wildlife, so I had to look at the bigger picture.

The first one which struck me as worthy of processing was this one:

But it’s not really about the photography… a 2-hour walk and chat in peaceful surroundings does wonders for the spirit!

  4. It hasn’t, Henry. The tree I used to play in when I was 3 is still there. They’ve recently been cleaning out the lagoons which has been disruptive, but I can’t think of a single thing that’s actually changed in the 30-odd years I’ve been visiting.

  5. Excellent photo Stu. I’m just playing with Adope Lightroom and Corel Paint Shop Pro XI Phot (both 30 day trials) to see what I can do with my shots :-)

Thanks for the wander, photoshoot and lend of the 55-300mm lense, all very much appreciated.

Will have to do another some time, after I’ve caught up with my sleep though ;-)

  6. That’s a lovely photograph, Stu.
I bet 99% of us don’t realise what a lovely country we have and most of us go abroad rather than explore what’s here on our doorstep. Still, that leaves it nice n peaceful for the rest of us.

  7. Trouty: Peacefull it was. I think for the first hour Stu and I were the only people in the park, later we came across a couple of runners and a few dog walkers. I used to think Stu was mad for getting up at that time to take photo’s :-) I can understand why now!

  8. I can hear the water trickling over the rocks, Stu. What a beautiful picture. Were the frogs and birds singing? I love frog songs.

  11. Way too cold for frogs, Debster… maybe in a couple of months the frogs will be out!

  12. That’s a great shot Stu. I fancy purchasing a wide angle lense myself.
