Post-Processing
Monday 2nd April
I learnt a techinque today for post-processing photos, and gives a real ‘pro studio’ look. It’s slightly over-emphasised in the following shot because I’m still feeling my feet with it, but for a taster, compare the tree and river shot from Saturday before and after:
Click on each for the full size version.
I can see how it might not be to some people’s taste, but subtly applied it gives a beautiful glow and softness without compromising realism. It works beautifully on people, too. I’ll play a bit more…

I’m not sure if it’s as you say overdone, or if it’s just not to my taste, but I think I prefer the first image. Swings and roundabouts, and all that.

I think it would look good on some subjects. Play on Stu and I hope you will share your results with us…
Just don’t try it on any bottom pictures

I definitely prefer the top picture.

In this case, I agree with them up there and prefer the original. But as you say, once you’ve learned all the subtlety tricks, it’ll be a good and useful effect.
When you say “It also works on people”, I guess you mean PICTURES of people. If not, could you try it on me please

Without seeing them side by side I couldn’t see any difference.

I like the top image. It seems more vibrant, more three-dimensional. There’s a bit of a golden cast to it that feels like sunlight - just a little warmer, maybe.
