Happy Easter

Monday 20th March

One day Happy Eater began to exist. We went in one once - we couldn’t work out why it said Happy Easter everywhere. Then one day they stopped existing.

That is the sum total of my knowledge of Happy Eaters.

  3. They had a sort of yellow face with a big open mouth and a disembodied hand pointing at the mouth. Quite gross really.

  7. LOL… Yeah, I remember Happy Eater! I think they did all become little Chef’s. Grrr, Littel Chef; I could rant about it all night!

  9. Yeah, they were taken over by Little Chef. You can usually spot the former Happy Eaters - they tend to have bizarre tree-shaped playgrounds outside, or an unusual roof (cf A1/A57 Markham Moor) or similar.

    I remember going to one once on the A1, and another on the A167 near Darlington. And I think I’ve got a badge, too.

  10. I wish i had gone in a happy eater. I have an old AA road map that shows happy eaters and little chefs. I stopped at a travel lodge with a little chef next to it. My map said it was a happy eater, and there was a weather vain on top with a happy eater logo on it, looked cool. Am making a web site with a load of pics on. will post when ready. Go happy eater!

  11. Little Chef was taken over recently and the new owners claim they are going to improve the food and reduce the prices … I’ll believe it when I see it! But any change is likely to be an improvement.

    Last time I stopped at one was just to get pancakes, and what was the one thing they were out of? Pancakes!
