Simply Stu Kids Will Do Anything For Goat

Walk

Sunday 22nd April

Today, as part of the Snowdon training, we’ve been on a little potter around the Cheshire countryside. Starting at the Cat and Fiddle pub, taking in Trentabank Reservoir, the peak of Shuttlingsloe, back down the steep slope into the valley and then an arduous trek back up to the moor where the pub lives. I said a rude swear during the last section while expressing my state of well-being (though after arriving home and having a nice warm bath, the after-effects seem pretty minimal, so that’s nice).

The route, totalling just under nine miles…

Doesn’t look so arduous until you also check the elevation profile…

It was particularly ace sitting on top of Shuttlingsloe looking across the valley at the Cat and Fiddle - we could pretty much see the whole of our three-mile return journey from there…

A good day out. Plus we got to see DoGGa’s arse just as we were leaving.

  4. I didn’t take my camera… I didn’t want the faff. I’ll most likely take it up Snowdon, though.

  8. Sue the people who wrote the guide.

Of course, accuracy wasn’t their strong point… if we’d turned left where they said, it would have been another 24,000 miles to end up where we should have been. :)

  9. LOL, yeah. I think I’ll stick with just the one mile out.
You both did excellent (better than me), you’ll make it up Snowdon’s miners track easily :-)
