Don’t worry folks… this is the only 100% Japanese* blog that will appear here! (*except for this bit which makes it no longer 100%)

Extraordinary [town in Southern France], Code Monkey? ;) I think you want すてきだね。
Yes, Mr. H, 人 (jin/nin) does mean person. Well spotted.

Well, google says すてきだね means Don’t you think? it is cute.
Extraordinary comes out as 異常.
I was aiming for very nice! Oh well, that’s what I get for trusting an online translator!

Yup. “Very” and “Extraordinary” are similar… though “非常” is used famously, for example in “非常出口” - emergency exit (or ‘extraordinary exit’).
As for Nice… it decided you meant the town… ニース is a phonetic spelling, pronounced ‘nee-su’.
Online translators can be handy… but I think only if you already know the language

My phrase “すてきだね” (suteki da ne) is:
すてき - suteki - cute/nice
だ - da - is
ね - ne - isn’t it?
So, a sort of “that’s nice” where you know the reader knows it’s nice and you’re seeking their confirmation. (Who said Japanese was easy!)
If you know you’re introducing a new fact, you’d say:
すてき - suteki - cute/nice
だ - da - is
よ - yo - y’know
It’s nice, you know. For example, if you went to a new place where the listener had not been before.
Compare:
Bradgate Park is nice, isn’t it?
Tampere, Finland is nice, y’know?
Note, the language I’ve used is only suitable for informal use amongst friends.
I’ll shut up now.
