Peak Buggling
Thursday 30th August
So, thanks to someone who shall remain nameless*, my aim to reach the highest point in every county of Great Britain has evolved slightly.
In a typical case of being presented with a stupid idea which might just work, I have been incited not only to reach the highest point of each county, but also to juggle five balls when I arrive there.
This does mean that I’ll have to revisit Snowdon, Kinder Scout, Howden Edge** and Bardon Hill… but, well, three of them were so enjoyable I’ll happily do them again, and Bardon Hill while not terribly exciting is at least nearby and easy to climb.
I believe video evidence is required too. We’ll see about that.
Note that officially, a juggle is defined as two catches of each ball - so that’s ten catches with five balls. I thought I’d state this in advance so there are no disputes after I return with my evidence requiring yet another return trip.
* unless she would like to own up herself
** which, it seems, I never really properly blogged
Start with the dull / tricky ones then you as you start to get tired of the idea you can look forward to the groovy ones!

Hehe… yes indeed. I read some advice which said “Work out which will be your last one as soon as possible - that way you’ll always have something to look forward to”
I might put Snowdon at the far end, having done it at the near end (without the juggling). It was a delight to go up… and we might get a view next time.

Does this involve a unicycle, too?

I’m wondering what the highest points of Kent, Surrey and Norfolk are.

Kent - 251 metres - Betsom’s Hill
Surrey - 295 metres - Leith Hill
Norfolk - 105 metres - Beacon Hill (just south of West Runton)
Even counties which are well-known for being flat and low-lying tend to have a high point somewhere. Norfolk’s hill is less than a 10 metre climb from the car park 50 metres away - so not an arduous task!

Ok… it’s a deal, Sarah!
Oh… and have you not been keeping up? I’m not bagging it, I’m buggling it. Erm. I think.

You can do Kent’s and London’s on the same walk - they are only about 4km apart.

By the way, you can’t quite get to the top of Botley Hill (London’s highest point) - assuming the trigpoint marks the highest point. But you can get within a few metres.

Stu, when you do Shropshire. I’ll meet you at the bottom… (either before or after… ha ha… see what I did there).

ok. so i admit it. The balls were my idea (!). Although I think you came up with the title all by yourself.
