Cold
Tuesday 20th November
I recently blogged about a cold-water experience in Dartmoor.
I have a funny feeling this place is going to be colder…

Bring it on!
Sorry, but when you find out that you’re going to be visiting the city with, and I quote, “the best winterswimming sauna in the world”, you’ve just gotta have a go, no?
No.

Although Michael Palin seemed to enjoy it if I recall correctly…

If the water is really warm then yay! I went to Center Parks in/near winter when it was cold. The park had a swimming pool indoors that also went outside. The water was lovely and warm even thought you could see your breath outside, it was fun, especially at night when the steam rose off the water and the lights lit up the trees.

That’s a lake, not a pool, John. They have to cut a hole in the ice to reach water… then aereate it to stop it refreezing.
In fact, you can see in the photo, the ice is pretty thick, because the photographer is standing on it.

I would want to go where the snow monkeys are that sit in the hot springs.

I read sauna and thought hot water, I re-read just now and read cold-water experience which I hadn’t spotted before. In which case, bugger that!

Yeah, John… you go and get nice and warm in the Sauna, and then get in the icy water. What fun! Probably a relative temperature drop of around 80-100°C.
