Gratitude

I am extremely grateful to my mum because now that I’m old enough to actually play music, the organ lessons she let me take from an early age mean that I have sufficient technique to get all my fingers in the right places.
Despite around 10 years off, I still seem to be able to read music and translate that into sound. And now that I’ve experienced some life, I can actually put my heart into it instead of methodically hitting the right keys at the right time.

I suggest if you have kids who play an instrument, make them get up to at least grade 5 before you let them give up.
Being able to play music must be fantastic, I had wanted to play the trumpet as first school, but for some reason the head master had to be asked about it and he never got back to my parents to say I could - maybe it had something to do with funding, I don’t know.

Yes… I have The Girl With The Flaxen Hair almost there, and have started on Rêverie. Not bad for 2.5 weeks of piano ownership, I think.
