Simply Stu Can You Tell Goat From Butter?

Pyhäjärvi

Friday 29th February

On the shore of the frozen lake Pyhäjärvi. We found this route back to our hotel from the city at the end of our first full day in Tampere. We couldn’t have hoped for a better location to stay - close enough (2 miles) to the centre to walk, but far enough that we were basically in the ‘countryside’…

  1. Well, you could have chosen our place to stay… only about hundred meters further from the centre. More free of charge. Way more. Two friendly cats. Pyhäjärvi view.

On the other hand, you had already booked your hotel. And you chose to arrive on our 7th anniversary weekend. And we have this miserable never ending renovation work going on inside our apartment. And no buffet breakfast… Uh, you’re right, you couldn’t have hoped for a better location to stay.

  5. I crossed the Pyhäjärvi lake on a boat a month ago :) People from the conference I was at went on a trip to the Vikinsaari recreation island where we were greeted by a man playing an accordion. There was some very nice outdoor grilled salmon to eat and some “outdoor finnish games” (no nakedness though, thankfully, I don’t think I could have coped giving my talk the day after…) which involved throwing a stick at other sticks. Apparently it’s called Mölkky and there’s a world championship and everything!

Did you like Tampere? Divine who comments here sometimes lives there!
