Makeshift Studio

Monday 28th December

Yesterday, the dining room became a makeshift studio to shoot some engagement photos for the most lovely SimonG and Jess. I ran through ‘the usual’ shots with Jess showing off her ring, but wanted to try something a little different too. The result came out quite well, I think…

There’s no reason, as Jonathan recently showed why a limited space should limit your results too greatly.

  2. I see you cleverly avoided highlighting all the food stains down Simon’s shirt. ;-)

Smashing shot of a fab couple, nice one!

  6. Great portrait. I like it.

Then on second thought, my mind went. “Wouldn’t it be cool, if he lit Jess like that, but reversed the lighting for Simon, so the shadow was on the other side??????!!!!!!!!”.

Sorry, just the way my mind works sometimes.

  7. That’s an interesting idea, rollasoc. Firstly I thought “NOOOOOO! That would look really unnatural, having lighting from different directions.” Now it has moved to… “Hmmm… a whole face made out of the wrong halves of two faces…”

The Pink Floyd “Division Bell” cover photo springs to mind. I know it’s not the same, but might turn with a somewhat similar feel.
