The Recession is OVER!
Wednesday 3rd March
Last week, I received a nice newsletter from my nice MP saying:
As you have probably heard, Britain is now coming out of recession.
I’m pretty sure this will be comforting for the 2% of the population of Loughborough who have just lost their job.
Very sad indeed!
I’d rather be made redundant coming out of a recession than going into one.
I would hope they would be comforted by the fact that the country is heading out of recession and that in the 18 months it may take for them to finally be made redundant, that their economy might be in better shape to the extent where other companies are taking on new research staff.
Just goes to show there is no loyalty from companies anymore.

I’ve seen closures like this before and not really given them much heed, but when a) it’s on your doorstep, and b) you find out by seeing people’s facebook status starting to say things like “Chemist for hire”, “Same here”, “Me too” and so on it really brings it home.

Having been through it myself (with a certain company we both worked for). I know how they feel, the months of uncertainty, until the final hatchett. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.
Saying that, it was one of the best things that happened to me in hindsight. A real kick up the arse, I’m so much happier now.
