Picture Viewer

Sunday 1st November

The reason for the change on the Tuesday Challenge picture viewer is because it doesn’t take any time. I don’t have a lot of time these days. Well, I do, but I need it for earning pennies to pay my mortgage and eat and, indeed, clothe myself if I’m not going to scare the clients. My photo catalogue software will throw one of those pages out for me for free.

I shall experiment with different presentations over the next few weeks. Let me know what you think (experience tells me you’ll have no problem doing that). But I’m not going to spend any large amount of time on presenting the challenge. If I have to do that, the challenge will stop.

Thank-you for your co-operation.

  1. No moans from me. I like the new format anyway and can see why presenting the pictures takes time to sort out.

  2. I buy the time argument, so fair enough on that score.

I see Postcard Viewer comes from Lightroom. Perhaps there is a better option there? My big gripes with PV are that the images are wonky and too small, and the animations are a distraction.

Can I suggest JAlbum? It requires a bit of set up, but has thousands of skins and can organise lots of challenges into subfolders. http://jalbum.net/

  3. I’m fairly sure lightroom has an album preset I’ve seen others use, but I use Aperture for all my management and PP, so I couldn’t say for sure.

I understand the whole time thing.

  4. Yeah, that’s absolutely fair enough :)

Ultimately the Tuesday Challenge is about taking and enjoying photos, and the photo display software is just a means to an end.

Even if the finally-chosen photo display method isn’t my favourite, I would much rather shut my face than stop taking part! :D

  5. I didn’t mind the picture viewer to be honest, even if it is a bit tacky.
