Photo Challenge
Wednesday 26th May
Don’t forget! If you used to take part in the Tuesday Photo Challenge, it’s now over here… http://www.photo-challenge.co.uk/. You can also join the group on Facebook if that’s your thing.
Go and take some photos! I do*!
(*um… sometimes. when I remember)
Tuesday Challenge #36 – Stop And Think
Friday 13th November
So this week was about stopping and thinking. Making improvements to your picture before pressing the shutter.
There were three entries!
Thanks to everyone who entered! But I think now is the time to bash the challenge on the head. It has been a fun 36 challenges, but out of the last 12, only two have reached double figures of entrants. And I’m very very very busy these days. So apologies for all who enjoy the challenge – but so long, and thanks for all the fish!
Tuesday Challenge #36 – Stop and Think
Friday 6th November
Set up your photo of any subject.
Now stop. Think. Make THREE improvements to your photo.
…and finally take it.
Usual rules apply! Good luck!
Tuesday Challenge #35 – Background
Friday 6th November
So this week was about anticipation – setting the scene first in the hope (through educated guesswork or not) that something would happen.
This week there were six entries!
Thanks to everyone who entered!
Picture Viewer
Sunday 1st November
The reason for the change on the Tuesday Challenge picture viewer is because it doesn’t take any time. I don’t have a lot of time these days. Well, I do, but I need it for earning pennies to pay my mortgage and eat and, indeed, clothe myself if I’m not going to scare the clients. My photo catalogue software will throw one of those pages out for me for free.
I shall experiment with different presentations over the next few weeks. Let me know what you think (experience tells me you’ll have no problem doing that). But I’m not going to spend any large amount of time on presenting the challenge. If I have to do that, the challenge will stop.
Thank-you for your co-operation.
Tuesday Challenge #35 – Background
Friday 30th October
This week’s challenge comes as a suggestion from PhotoZone via Peter Olding.
Backgrounds are important to a photograph. Why not find a good background first, then wait for something to happen in front of it.
Simple enough. Or is it? A perfect example might be Henri Cartier-Bresson’s famous Hyères:

Usual rules apply! Good luck!
Tuesday Challenge #34 – Results
Friday 30th October
The results are now in for Tuesday Challenge #34. It looks like changing the day has helped. Hurrah!
Thanks to everyone who entered.
There’s a new challenge coming soon…
Tuesday Challenge #34 – Limitations
Friday 23rd October
This week the theme is Limitations.
In a recent interview, Terry Gilliam said that he aspires to mediocrity. It’s the limitations that make his work stand out. For example, on Monty Python’s holy grail, he wanted the knights riding around on beautiful horses. However, the budget limitations put a stop to that and we were left with the famous coconuts.
Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to come up with the most fantastic idea. What would you shoot if time, money and skills were no issue? Then work within your limitations to realise your dream. See what unique surprises occur.
New rules apply. They’re just like the old rules, but with different times.
